Over 1,000 participants – including business executives and leaders from the investment community, civil society, Government and the United Nations – who contributed to making Global Compact+15 from 23-25 June in New York a success.

Dr. Doan Duy Khuong - Vice Executive President of Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) where Global Compact Network Viet Nam was a cutting edge initiative developed in partnership between VCCI and the United Nations Development Programme in Viet Nam in 2007 - attended the event and joined many group dicussions.

With over a dozen focused meetings and an historic plenary session in the UN General Assembly Hall, through the UN Global Compact, business is already working to advance principles and UN goals in the environmental, social and governance arenas. Participants discussed how in order to maximize the business contribution to society; to ramp up partnerships, local action, and engagement with key sustainability drivers such as investors, educators and regulators. It is clear that the private sector stands ready to support and implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) when they are adopted by Member States in September.

The ground-breaking report Impact: Transforming Business, Changing the World was launched during the General Assembly session.  Produced by classification/certification body and technical assurance provider DNV GL, the report provides one of the most comprehensive analyses of the corporate sustainability movement to date. It concludes that the UN Global Compact has had a profound impact in driving corporate sustainability globally.

15th Anniversary Celebration Dinner at Cipriani was truly remarkable with over 700 attendees. A number of special guests, including the UN Secretary-General and the President of Mauritius H.E. Dr. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim delivered speeches at the Dinner and all participants looked back on what UN Global Compact initiative has achieved over the past 15 years.
